Tesoro

Treasure

The immensity of love doesn’t fade through distraction nor destruction.

But with neglect and passivity, it will sink into the depths of the sea.

It’ll live in the darkness, sounding a song of solace.

The intuitive who pursue its pulse find a bounty worth the wait.

The disoriented and lost arrive at the brink of the earth with a compulsion to plunge.

Because aspiration gifts opportune fortune–and languidity tempts fate.

a. I was hesitant in making a translation because mediating the same heart between two languages is naturally a calculated game; it’s manipulating words synonymous to the direct language to conjure up the same pathos that the original, native tongue (hopefully) exudes. I propose more of a semi-translated guide, and implore Spanish speakers to piece the puzzle al gusto.

b. Through the conservative lens, bilinguals are a clandestine coup conspiring and conniving in every breath. Personally, it makes me feel quite royal. I presented my piece to a public of non-Spanish speaking ears without an accessible translation. The lack of accommodation felt unkind because of my conditioning, but to inconvenience the masses is its own reward.
